Platform Readiness & Release Management (PID0570)

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a Senior Operational Readiness Manager for a 12-month freelance contract (full-time) engagement. This role offers a daily rate and the opportunity to lead critical readiness and release management processes across a complex multi-platform environment.

Language requirement : English only.

Onsite presence : Occasional visits to Germany.

The role governs the management of production platforms and the applications hosted on them. These activities span Change Control Observation & Monitoring and Support – all designed to maintain a highly available secure and scalable platform (IaaS) that enables rapid and reliable value delivery by development teams.

As the Operational Readiness Manager you will ensure that every platform release is production-ready – validated documented and supported for seamless transition and sustained operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Operational Readiness Validation
• Manage operational readiness (OR) validation for each platform release candidate.
• Verify compliance with functional (UAT) and operational (OAT) acceptance criteria.
• Oversee all necessary testing documentation and review processes.
• Transition-to-Production Frameworks
• Design and manage frameworks for transition-to-production including governance and sign-off stages.
• Prepare and maintain relevant change advisory board documentation.
• Coordinate technical aspects and communication among cross-country multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
• Post-Release Enablement
• Provide training knowledge transfer and detailed documentation for local operations teams (Germany / Belgium).
• Oversee the handover process to ensure local teams are fully prepared for new releases.
• Coordinate release planning and adapt support to local operational contexts.
• Operational Stability & Monitoring
• Oversee creation of runbooks playbooks and monitoring configurations for each release.
• Proactively identify and address issues during transition-to-production.
• Ensure new product states are stable and performant in production environments.
• Change & Risk Management
• Evaluate and mitigate risks and dependencies throughout the release process.
• Ensure observability and readiness across all production environments.
• Define processes resources and timelines for local production releases.
• Continuous Improvement
• Lead retrospectives and post-transition reviews with all stakeholders.
• Apply lessons learned to continuously improve operational readiness and transition processes.

Requirements

Highly experienced in IT operations service delivery or platform engineering with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or coordination role.

Proven operational experience in environments with containerized and distributed applications or systems.

Demonstrated success managing cross-functional cross-country teams in regulated or mission-critical environments (e.g. energy utilities telecom).

Strong background in change management release management and operational governance (ITIL / ISO 20000).

Experience defining measuring and acting upon SLAs and SLOs.

Excellent communication stakeholder management and facilitation skills aligning diverse organizations toward common goals.

Hands-on experience with cloud containerized platforms observability tools and CI / CD delivery pipelines.

Preferred Skills

Experience with ITSM tools in enterprise IT contexts.

Skilled in leading knowledge transfer sessions workshops and show-and-tell meetings.

Solid understanding of IT infrastructure (networking SAN virtualization hyperscale environments).

Working knowledge of Kubernetes.

Language Requirement

Fluent English (C1 or above).
