Head of IT Department - Logistics

• Title: Head of IT Transport Logistics
• Area to be covered: Southern, Germany

Responsibilities

• Leading the IT transport logistics function across a large, complex and fast-growing asset-based logistics business.
• Acting as the senior IT partner for the transport-side business teams, with a strong focus on groupage, TMS, e CMR, e-invoicing and wider transport logistics processes.
• Driving the standardisation and rollout of transport management systems across multiple sites and business units.
• Identifying technology gaps and opportunities to improve smart disposition, route planning, digitalisation and operational efficiency.
• Supporting IT transformation by helping consolidate fragmented capabilities formed through inorganic growth.
• Working closely with department leads across integration and application development to align business-facing IT with the future technology structure.
• Helping shape IT standards, modernisation priorities and the long-term technology roadmap for transport logistics.
• Partnering with senior leadership on rollout planning, change management and execution across locations.
• Supporting the migration away from legacy and fragmented TMS environments toward a more standardised AX / D365 landscape.

Requirements

• Strong IT background with deep transport logistics affinity.
• Must understand groupage and transport logistics operations very well.
• Experience with TMS environments, digital transport processes, e CMR and e-invoicing strongly preferred.
• Ability to identify business technology gaps and translate them into practical improvements.
• Credibility with operational stakeholders and senior leadership alike.
• Track record of driving standards, transformation and rollout planning in a logistics environment.
• On-site presence in Southern Germany is essential, with only limited hybrid flexibility.
• Confident communicator who can work closely with the wider leadership team.
