Position Overview
For the winter term of 2026/27 we seek a professor for the Computer Science degree programme.
The position is limited to 2 years, based in Berlin, and can be full‑time or part‑time, starting on
October 1st, 2026
. Employment is governed by the Higher Education Law Thüringen.
Responsibilities
- Represent the field of Computer Science in teaching and research on‑site at the IU campus and become part of an extensive higher‑education network.
- Develop and lead face‑to‑face lectures, and be responsible for individual supervision of students during examinations and thesis preparation.
- Teach practice‑oriented fundamental knowledge in Computer Science.
- Contribute to the creative development of teaching formats within IU’s didactic concept and collaborate closely with colleagues to further develop these formats.
Qualifications
- We hold a university degree in Computer Science or a related field with outstanding academic performance and a relevant doctoral degree (Ph. D.).
- At least five years of practical work experience, including three years outside university, and initial experience in academic teaching is desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in relevant subject areas through publications or projects.
- Team‑oriented, reliable, and committed to in‑person teaching while also proficient in conducting virtual lectures.
- Permanent residence in Germany.
- English language skills at C1 level (CEFR).
