Huber Corporation and belongs to the Division of HUBER ENGINEERED MATERIALS, produces at Bergheim site more than 100 chemical specialty products on the basis of aluminum hydroxide, alumina, and UF resins for numerous industrial applications. Nearly 500 people are working with high qualification and experience of over 100 years of customer-oriented solutions.
Purpose of Job:
Leading the Customer Technical Intelligence activities for existing products as well as for new product or application developments within our “Surfaces and Adhesives” Market Segment; building professional relationships with (strategic) customers and drive new opportunities to success.
Furthermore, managing the technical developments in our “Surfaces and Adhesives” market segment and related technical applications. These developments have a global reach and are executed in close cooperation with our Asian and American Technical/Sales/Marketing teams. The corresponding technical activities are mainly conducted in the Martinswerk (application) laboratory (Bergheim, Germany).
Main Responsibilities:
- Developing analytical and application tools and methods for new emerging business opportunities related to regulation changes, specific trends in industries, product needs in new technologies, etc.
- Defining and coordinating of projects and customer technical service activities in agreement with other stakeholders and technical professionals in our Martinswerk (application) laboratory.
- Strongly contributing to our strategic roadmap related to new product and application development, including investments in equipment and application tools in growing market segments.
- Initiating, supporting and leading of new product development project(s); playing an active role in proof-of-principle experimentation in new product development phase.
- Securing and maintaining of product and application know-how and expertise for our long-term Huber Martinswerk organization.
- Attending of technical workshops and presenting at conferences; reviewing professional publications and patents; establishing personal networks with customers, suppliers, universities/institutes.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- PhD or Master degree in inorganic science and/or engineering, or related studies in material chemistry / science, e.g. related to alumina, aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide materials.
- 5+ years of professional experience in a relevant application area related to “Surfaces and Adhesives” market segment, preferably in a global business environment.
- Preferred to have application expertise of inorganic materials in the coatings, adhesives and gapfiller related applications and chemistry.
- Proven record in (advanced) product development of inorganic materials; affinity with polymer/resin composites and organic chemistry preferred.
- Experience in evaluating of new technologies and early adoption/applications.
- Strong analytical background for product and application developments; “surfaces and adhesives market” (e.g. within coatings, adhesives and gapfiller applications).
- Good team player; people management, and communication skills, experience in leading a technical team and managing laboratory activities.
- Fluent language skills in English; German language skills preferred.
- Travel – up to 30% in a global setting, mainly Europe.
