Our client is the European headquarters of a globally recognized manufacturer of automated food processing machinery.

Headquartered in Japan, the company has been supplying advanced food production equipment to customers worldwide for decades. The European organization has been operating in Germany since the 1970s and serves as the regional headquarters for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), providing sales, technical support, maintenance, and customer services.

The Düsseldorf headquarters includes a technical center where customers can develop and test new food products and production processes. Through its strong global network and industry-leading technology, the company has established a solid reputation within the food manufacturing industry.

This position has been created as part of a long‑term succession plan to ensure a smooth handover from a highly experienced team member approaching retirement in the coming years.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Process invoices, payments, and expense reports
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities
  • Prepare financial reports and accounting documentation
  • Maintain accounting records and ensure data accuracy
  • Support cash management and banking‑related activities
  • Assist with tax, audit, and compliance‑related documentation
  • Reconcile accounts and investigate accounting discrepancies
  • Support budgeting and financial analysis activities as required
  • Communicate with internal departments, external auditors, tax advisors, and headquarters in Japan
  • Assist with general administrative and finance‑related tasks

Job Requirements

  • Initial professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related administrative function
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Business‑level German language skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Preferred
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting
  • Experience supporting monthly and annual closing activities
  • Experience using ERP or accounting systems (e.g. SAP, DATEV, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or trading company
  • English communication skills for an international business environment
  • Experience working in a Japanese or international company
  • Knowledge of German tax and compliance requirements
