Electrical Design Engineer – HV Grid & Renewable Energy Projects
A leading specialist in high-voltage grid infrastructure and energy transition projects is seeking an experienced
Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Germany.
The company delivers complex electrical infrastructure projects across the energy sector, supporting grid connections, renewable energy developments, and high-voltage networks.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on projects ranging from LV systems through to 110k V, with exposure to 220k V and 380k V infrastructure.
The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of grid connection projects, working closely with internal engineering teams, clients, TSOs, and construction partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs for grid connection and private network infrastructure from LV through to 110k V+ systems.
- Support the conceptual design of renewable energy projects, including solar farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
• Produce and review electrical documentation including
- Small power and lighting designs
- Manage and coordinate design activities with subcontractors and external engineering partners.
- Prepare technical submissions and design documentation for clients and transmission system operators.
- Support project delivery teams with technical queries and ensure designs are practical and buildable.
- Attend site visits when required to support engineering delivery.
- Assist procurement teams with technical equipment specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards including VDE, IEC, IEEE, and CENELEC.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within an electrical engineering consultancy, EPC contractor, or engineering delivery environment.
- Experience working on grid connection projects and liaising with TSOs/DSOs.
- Strong knowledge of HV systems, substations, and renewable energy connections.
- Experience with Auto CAD.
- Understanding of German and international electrical standards.
- Strong IT skills including MS Office and project planning tools.
- Full EU driving licence.
- Experience working on 110k V–380k V projects.
- Experience with power system modelling tools such as DIg SILENT Power Factory.
- Knowledge of substation engineering tools such as Primtech or Engineering Base.
- Experience within solar, battery storage, or wider renewable energy projects.
