Overview
In this role you will provide strategic legal guidance on sustainability laws and standards across EU and Switzerland, supporting JTI’s Corporate Sustainability team. You will shape governance frameworks and advise on board oversight, risk, and communications to ensure compliance and credible reporting. You will translate complex requirements into practical guidance for cross-functional teams and help mitigate reputational and regulatory risk. This pivotal position combines legal expertise with business-focused problem solving to advance responsible practices at scale.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Provide strategic legal advice on sustainability laws, regulations, standards and emerging expectations
- Review public sustainability communications, claims and reports
- Advise on corporate governance, board-level sustainability oversight, and director duties
- Support legal matters related to climate, environment, product stewardship, circularity, biodiversity, waste and emissions
- Translate complex legal requirements into practical, business-oriented guidance
- Design governance frameworks, controls, and risk escalation to reduce enforcement, litigation and audit risk
- Embed sustainability obligations through contracts and cross-functional programs
- Identify and mitigate greenwashing, social washing and reputational risks in communications
- Monitor regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions
- Manage tasks and projects as needed
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Legal degree and qualification in good standing in at least one jurisdiction
- Minimum 10 years of experience, including in-house, ideally in consumer goods or food & beverage
- Demonstrated experience advising on sustainability matters
- Fluent written and verbal English
- Deep understanding of EU and Switzerland laws and regulations
- Knowledge of OECD Guidelines for MNEs and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to issue spot and craft solutions
- Ability to simplify complex matters and exercise sound judgment in ambiguity
