(Senior) Regional EHS&S Manager (m / f / d)

Huber Corporation and the HUBER ENGINEERED MATERIALS division, operates at the Bergheim site, producing over 100 chemical specialty products based on aluminum hydroxide, alumina, and UF resins for various industrial applications. The company employs nearly 500 highly qualified professionals with over a century of combined experience in customer-oriented solutions.

Purpose of Job:

This senior leadership role is crucial for managing and promoting all health, safety, and environmental programs at our facilities in Germany and Austria. The role involves coaching staff, influencing organizational culture, and fostering continuous improvement and best practices across the workforce and its vendors/contractors.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Ensure site compliance with applicable regulations and internal EHS&S requirements through maintaining monitoring systems, permits, reporting, and audits.
2. Develop and implement written EHS&S programs and policies.
3. Identify training needs and develop relevant training programs.
4. Develop and coach local EHS teams.
5. Advise plant operations on regulatory and company safety requirements to safeguard personnel and assets.
6. Identify trends and opportunities to reduce risks and improve EHS&S management systems.
7. Participate in product/process reviews, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
8. Coordinate environmental sampling and monitoring to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
9. Maintain professional relationships with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and external support providers.

Requirements & Qualifications:

1. Bachelor\’s degree in safety science, engineering, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or chemical engineering, with knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations.
2. Over 10 years of relevant experience.
3. Strong understanding of management systems (e.g., ISO) and risk prioritization.
4. Knowledge of occupational safety, health, and environmental laws such as OSHA, Federal Emission Control Act, and others.
5. Proficiency in English and German, with effective communication skills.
6. Leadership skills and the ability to lead teams, liaise with regulatory agencies, and manage projects.
7. Ability to make engineering recommendations for safety improvements.
