Lead System Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead System Accountant based in Germany.

This role offers the opportunity to become a key contributor in optimizing and scaling financial systems within a fast-growing international environment.

You will own critical finance technology processes, ensuring accurate data flows, reliable reporting, and efficient system operations.

Working closely with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders, you will help improve the infrastructure that supports strategic decision-making.

Accountabilities

As a Lead System Accountant, you will oversee the systems and processes that support financial operations, ensuring data accuracy, security, and efficiency across the finance ecosystem.

You will act as the bridge between finance teams, technology stakeholders, and external platforms to maintain reliable financial workflows.

• Own and manage finance-related systems, including subscription management platforms, tax solutions, payment gateways, ERP systems, and planning tools.
• Maintain and optimize API integrations and related automation tools to ensure accurate and complete data transfers between financial platforms.
• Monitor system audit logs and ensure appropriate access controls, compliance standards, and security practices are maintained.
• Develop, review, and maintain financial systems policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Partner with IT and finance teams to translate business requirements into effective system solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve finance system issues while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Support continuous improvements across financial processes, automation, and system performance.
• Train and support finance users, helping teams maximize the value of financial tools and processes.

Requirements

We are looking for a finance systems professional with strong technical understanding, analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

The ideal candidate combines accounting knowledge with experience managing complex financial platforms in a dynamic environment.

• Proven experience working in a finance systems, financial operations, or similar systems-focused role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and finance stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused mindset with a proactive and adaptable approach.
• Self-motivated attitude with strong ownership and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience with ERP and finance platforms, particularly Net Suite and/or subscription management systems such as Chargebee, is a plus.
• Previous experience in Saa S or subscription-based businesses is highly valued.
• Knowledge of Spanish tax and regulatory environments is considered an advantage.
