This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Managing Consultant, Mar Tech based in Germany.

As a Managing Consultant, Mar Tech, you will own client engagements end-to-end, combining strategic consulting, technical leadership, relationship management, and commercial responsibility.

You’ll work directly with senior marketing and growth stakeholders while remaining close enough to the technology to design solutions and challenge technical decisions.

Acting as a player-coach, you’ll shape customer data and marketing technology strategies while directing engineers and implementation partners.

You’ll identify opportunities for growth, connect recommendations to measurable business outcomes, and ensure solutions are delivered effectively.

The role offers exposure to diverse industries, technology stacks, and clients across Europe and North America.

It is ideal for an experienced consultant who enjoys moving between executive conversations, strategic problem-solving, and hands-on technical work.

  • Accountabilities
  • Own client engagements from initial discovery through strategy, solution design, delivery, renewal, and expansion, acting as the primary relationship owner.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders and serve as the senior point of contact when clients need strategic guidance or escalation.
  • Run a consistent client cadence, including biweekly meetings, monthly roadmap and statement-of-work reviews, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Maintain at least three months of planned work across each account while proactively monitoring budgets, utilization, pacing, and potential overages.
  • Identify revenue opportunities across acquisition, conversion, and retention, connecting recommendations to measurable metrics and business outcomes.
  • Develop growth roadmaps collaboratively with clients and demonstrate the commercial value of progressing toward greater levels of marketing and data maturity.
  • Design customer data and Mar Tech architectures spanning customer data platforms, analytics, lifecycle messaging, warehouses, and integrations.
  • Perform strategic hands-on work where needed, including taxonomy design, measurement planning, attribution modeling, segmentation logic, and quality assurance of critical implementations.
  • Direct engineers and contract developers, review their work, and ensure technical delivery meets the agreed client objectives before reaching the customer.
  • Delegate implementation work appropriately while remaining sufficiently technical to challenge estimates, identify weak solutions, and make informed architectural decisions.
  • Support pre-sales through discovery, opportunity identification, scoping, proposal development, and live presentations.
  • Build proposals covering scope, phasing, effort, investment, and business case, ensuring estimates are commercially viable and delivery expectations are realistic.
  • Partner with Sales through qualification and closing, then transition opportunities into successful delivery where appropriate.
  • Document, estimate, and secure written confirmation for all scope changes before additional work begins.
  • Drive account expansion and contribute to commercial growth across the client portfolio.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in consulting, agency, or professional services, including at least 4 years directly owning client relationships.
  • Fully fluent English, as this is the primary working language.
  • Strong understanding of the complete marketing lifecycle, including demand generation, nurturing, acquisition, retention, and growth, with the ability to identify where revenue is being lost and why.
  • Deep understanding of modern marketing technology, including advertising platforms, customer data platforms, marketing engagement tools, CRM, analytics, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong advisory-level expertise across Mar Tech systems, with the ability to recommend appropriate technologies, assess how different components connect, understand operational trade-offs, and identify when an existing technology stack can be used more effectively.
  • Ability to critically evaluate funnel reports, cohort analyses, attribution models, and other marketing analytics to challenge assumptions and connect findings to business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated track record of retaining and growing client accounts, with measurable commercial results that can be clearly explained.
  • Proven pre-sales experience covering discovery, scoping, proposal development, and delivery against the solutions sold.
  • Experience with GDPR and consent management as an integral part of client engagements.
  • Strong technical depth in at least three of the following Mar Tech areas, with working familiarity across the others: customer data platforms such as Segment, Hightouch, and Rudder Stack; analytics platforms such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, and GA4; lifecycle and marketing automation platforms such as Braze, Customer. io, Hub Spot, Marketo, and Iterable; warehouse and transformation technologies such as Snowflake, Big Query, and dbt; tag management including Google Tag Manager and server-side GTM; CRM platforms such as Salesforce and Hub Spot; and consent management tools such as One Trust, Cookiebot, and Didomi.
  • Ability to combine executive-level consulting skills with practical technical knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to take responsibility for outcomes, surface blockers early, and drive problems through to resolution.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategy, delivery, commercial priorities, and technical challenges within the same engagement.
  • Professional working proficiency in German, French, Spanish, or Italian is a plus.
  • Experience managing engagements across multiple countries or regulatory environments is a plus.
  • Experience working with both European and North American clients is a plus.

Benefits

  • Annual compensation of $70,000–$125,000 USD, depending on experience and location.
  • Additional bonus or commission linked to client account growth.
  • Full-time contractor engagement with direct international contracting terms.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Monthly per diem toward premium health, dental, and vision coverage where equivalent coverage is not already available.
  • Maternity and paternity leave.
  • Annual retirement contribution equivalent to 3% of salary.
  • Company-provided laptop, monitor, and remote-work equipment.
  • National holidays off.
  • Highly transparent working environment.
  • Significant autonomy and room to develop and implement your own ideas.
  • Opportunity to work across diverse industries, business models, and technology stacks rather than being limited to a single client environment.
  • Exposure to both European and North American markets from one role.
  • Opportunity to work with evolving customer data architectures, including warehouse-native approaches, composable CDPs, and reverse ETL.
  • Ability to combine the full commercial and delivery lifecycle of an account within a single senior role.
