- Serve as Global Procurement’s technical subject matter expert on procurement contracting
- Lead development, review, and negotiation of complex, high-value, high-risk, and strategic procurement contracts
- Partner with requestors, procurement teams, and technical stakeholders to develop scopes of work, deliverables, performance standards, and contractual requirements
- Advise on contract structures, risk allocation, service levels, warranties, insurance, indemnities, liability, intellectual property, data protection, remedies, and termination rights
- Support complex procurement activities through review of solicitation documents, evaluation requirements, negotiation strategies, award documentation, contract modifications, and dispute resolution
- Serve as technical escalation point for complex contractual concerns and coordinate with the Office of General Counsel
- Ensure contracts align with CRS policies, procedures, donor requirements, applicable law, and organizational approvals
- Work with OGC, GRC, Finance, Safeguarding, GKIM, and other functions on legal, compliance, and risk considerations
- Monitor changes in donor, regulatory, and organizational requirements
- Develop and improve contracting templates, clause libraries, playbooks, decision tools, and review guidance
- Analyze contractual risks, disputes, exceptions, audit findings, and implementation challenges to identify systemic improvements
- Deliver training, guidance, coaching, and practical tools on contract development, negotiation, risk management, and contract administration
- Build contracting capability among procurement staff, program teams, budget holders, and stakeholders
- Promote understanding of contractual obligations, accountability, and contract management practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Public Administration, International Development, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
- Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in contract management, commercial contracting, procurement contracting, legal advisory support, supply chain management, or a related field
- Experience working cross-functionally with legal counsel, risk and compliance functions, technical experts, and operational stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, administering, and closing out complex, high-value, or high-risk contracts for goods and services
- Ability to identify, explain, and mitigate complex contractual and compliance risks
- Ability to interpret donor, regulatory, policy, and contractual requirements and translate them into practical guidance and contract provisions
- Excellent analytical skills and sound judgement
- Strong facilitation, consultation, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence without direct authority and serve as a technical advisor
- Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other platforms
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%
- Ability to legally work where the position is performed
- Must sign and adhere to CRS’ Code of Conduct
