- Perform forensic quality assurance audits on complex and high-risk bankruptcy functions
- Audit loans in or previously in bankruptcy, including adversaries, litigated loans, payment/borrower disputes, complex exit audits, cramdowns, and lien strips
- Develop audit plans by assessing risks, determining scope, and establishing timelines
- Analyze data and operational processes to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
- Review financial records, invoices, legal documents, and other documentation for compliance
- Assess internal controls and risk management processes and recommend improvements
- Prepare audit reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations for management and vendors
- Collaborate with management on findings and corrective action plans
- Conduct follow-up audits to verify corrective actions
- Monitor industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes
- Provide training and mentorship to staff
- Participate in special projects and investigations involving financial analysis and risk assessment
- Build and maintain client and vendor relationships
- Establish and monitor audit performance metrics
- Implement quality assurance processes
- Establish and maintain documentation standards for audit work papers
Requirements
- 7+ years of bankruptcy experience
- 7+ years of mortgage servicing experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong PC skills, including all Microsoft applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact positively and professionally with internal and external audiences
- 40 hours/week; overtime as required
- Preferred: 3+ years of risk assessment/auditing experience
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience with MSP, ICE, AACER, PACER, and NDC
- Ability to work in an on-site office setting or a quiet, designated work-from-home space free from distractions and noise
- Ability to remain stationary and/or move about the organization or remote office
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, type, write, handle, feel, and reach
- Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift/move up to 25 lbs
- Ability to use computers and standard office equipment for extended periods
