- Perform site analysis and planning, site layouts, erosion control, grading, storm water management, and utilities design
- Interact with professional staff, clients, contractors, local government officials, and regulatory agencies
- Support projects from conceptual and design phases through regulatory review, permitting, and construction
- Engage with clients regarding project requirements, concept and design development, and design presentations
- Research site requirements with local jurisdictions
- Participate in site visits and conduct field measurements
- Coordinate with project staff, disciplines, and sub-consultants on drainage, traffic, water/wastewater, utilities, survey, and land use concerns
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, and final documents for client submission
- Assign tasks to and coordinate with technicians or administrative staff
- Meet with contractors for construction administration and design clarifications
- Review civil drawings submitted by outside civil engineers
- Support project management, contracting, scheduling, and consultant communications
- Support construction administration activities on behalf of clients
- Conduct field inspections and review contractor schedules and progress
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience within the engineering industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Licensed P.E. in at least one state in the U.S.
- National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) current member preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Knowledge of municipal, state, and federal regulations impacting site development
- Knowledge of the site permitting process and project scheduling lead times
- Ability to interpret relevant codes and communicate with code officials
- Proficiency with AutoDesk products such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to travel to sites and traverse uneven or undeveloped terrain
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, orally and in writing
- Ability to visually survey, measure, and assess project sites and construction
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
