- Coordinate PETA’s shareholder work
- Draft and present select shareholder questions and resolutions at annual meetings of major corporations
- Secure support for PETA's efforts from major institutional investors, endowments, and pension funds
- Establish relationships with humane investing groups and organizations
- Research the animal and environmental guidelines enforced by major corporations
- Research past proxies and voting histories of institutional shareholders on animal-related and other issues
- Assess shareholder efforts to advance PETA's work
- Research SEC procedures, deadlines, and information specific to each company's shareholder meetings
- Maintain records of companies in which PETA owns stock, including eligibility to attend meetings, present questions, and submit resolutions
- Liaise with PETA's broker and investment firm on matters related to shareholder work
- Travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of two years of previous experience in corporate governance, investor relations, advocacy, public affairs, public policy, finance, law, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to employ logical reasoning for shareholder work
- Proficiency with AI tools, such as CoPilot
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
- Demonstrated exceptional skills in critical thinking, organization, written and verbal communication, and presentation
- Demonstrated research skills, including literature reviews, data synthesis, and data analysis
- Willingness to receive and implement feedback
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively, communicate across all levels of an organization, and prioritize team success
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
