- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Capture Managers responsible for major federal pursuits
- Establish expectations, performance standards, priorities, and a consistent operating rhythm for the Capture Management team
- Manage and prioritize the company’s strategic capture portfolio
- Evaluate opportunities based on customer alignment, strategic value, contract size, competition, probability of success, resources, and return on investment
- Recommend which opportunities Odyssey Systems should invest in, pursue, shape, accelerate, or abandon
- Maintain visibility into portfolio health and maturity and identify issues requiring executive attention
- Balance near‑term recompetes with longer‑term growth opportunities and market expansion
- Provide leadership and oversight for significant Full and Open opportunities, major recompetes, and high‑value federal competitions
- Ensure early customer engagement and understanding of mission requirements, acquisition strategies, funding, evaluation priorities, and competitive dynamics
- Review capture strategies, competitive assessments, teaming approaches, win strategies, pricing strategies, and proposal plans
- Personally engage in the company’s most strategic pursuits when senior leadership involvement can improve outcomes
- Establish and implement a consistent capture framework and standards for qualification, planning, customer engagement, competitive analysis, solution development, teaming, pricing, and proposal transition
- Implement capture metrics, decision points, and disciplined reviews to identify weaknesses and drive corrective action
- Partner with Business Development, Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Pricing, Contracts, Recruiting, Finance, and Proposal teams
- Guide Capture Managers in developing teaming strategies and industry‑partner relationships
- Engage senior executives to ensure organizational alignment and timely decision‑making
- Conduct structured reviews of wins, losses, and completed pursuits
- Track capture performance and use data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
- Refine tools, processes, templates, and training programs
- Build a scalable, disciplined capture function supporting continued growth
- Oversee pursuits across the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Space and Missile Defense, and Life Sciences markets
- Drive growth in contract awards and profitable revenue across priority markets
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or a related discipline
- 12+ years of experience in federal business development, capture management, or a combination of both
- Demonstrated success leading or overseeing large federal captures, preferably including $50M+ opportunities
- Experience leading and developing Capture Managers or other senior business development professionals
- Demonstrated experience with Full and Open federal competitions and major recompetes
- Experience with one or more target markets, including Air Force, Army, Navy, SMD, or Life Sciences
- Strong understanding of the federal acquisition process and large government procurements
- Proven ability to evaluate opportunities and make sound pursuit and resource‑allocation decisions
- Strong understanding of capture methodology and disciplined pursuit management
- Executive-level communication skills for briefing senior leadership, customers, and industry partners
- Strong customer relationship, negotiation, strategic planning, and team leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while focusing on the organization's most important opportunities
- Willingness to travel as required
- Preferred: experience with large DoD procurements involving the Air Force, Army, Navy, or SMD
- Preferred: experience pursuing federal Life Sciences or health‑related opportunities
- Preferred: demonstrated success with large Full and Open competitions
- Preferred: experience with major recompetes and incumbent displacement strategies
- Preferred: experience with IDIQ, GWAC, BPA, and task‑order environments
- Preferred: experience with FFP, CPFF, T&M, and other federal contract structures
- Preferred: experience establishing or improving a formal capture management organization
- Preferred: experience implementing capture metrics, governance, and portfolio‑management processes
