  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a nonprofit organization

  • Handle AP, AR, reimbursements, expense report management, and routine reconciliations

  • Maintain vendor files, grant files, receipts, contracts, invoices, payroll-related documentation, and compliance materials

  • Code revenue and expense transactions

  • Support monthly and year-end close processes by preparing documentation, reconciling accounts, organizing backup materials, and helping ensure audit-ready records

  • Prepare and support timely, accurate financial reports

  • Support grant administration from pre-award through closeout

  • Communicate with prospective grantees, review applications, obtain compliance documentation, track reporting deadlines, review reports, and ensure grantee compliance

  • Coordinate with program, development, and operations teams on grant-related financial information and budget needs

  • Support stewardship of restricted and unrestricted funds

  • Document finance and grants workflows, identify gaps, and recommend improvements

  • Support compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, internal controls, grant requirements, organizational policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations

  • Collaborate with finance leadership and outsourced accounting partners


Requirements



  • Demonstrated finance experience

  • Experience with nonprofit bookkeeping, accounting operations, or financial administration

  • Experience with Sage Intacct, BILL AP/AR, Bill Spend & Expense, Notion, and Slack

  • Experience with grant reporting and funder compliance, including federal, state, foundation, and restricted grant reporting, strongly preferred

  • Experience with non-profit audits, Form 990 preparation, and fiscal year-end close

  • Understanding of nonprofit-specific accounting concepts, including fund-based accounting, grant budgets, expense coding, and audit documentation

  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, debits, credits, and basic cash or accrual accounting methods

  • Experience and competency working with accounting systems, spreadsheets, shared files, and financial documentation

  • Experience working with outsourced accounting partners, auditors, payroll providers, and/or finance consultants preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage recurring deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential financial and personnel information with discretion

  • Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and collaborative problem-solving

  • Must be located within the United States

  • Availability during standard business hours, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM local time, Monday through Friday
