IT Network & Platform Operations Engineer in Hamburg

• Operate, administer, and further develop the network infrastructure across all locations
• Perform routing, switching, firewalling, and network segmentation
• Plan and implement VPN, WAN, and redundancy concepts
• Monitor the network and perform proactive troubleshooting
• Provide technical support for new site deployments, including network planning, implementation, and documentation
• Own network connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments
• Implement network segmentation, DNS, DHCP, and name resolution in hybrid environments
• Design and implement solutions for hybrid management
• Coordinate with the Cloud & Platform team on responsibilities for network resources
• Provide 3rd-level support for complex network incidents
• Lead technical projects involving migrations, site connectivity, and segmentation
• Contribute to the IaC transformation
• Create and maintain network documentation
• Implement network security requirements, including least privilege and Zero Trust Networking
• Conduct regular reviews of firewall rules and access concepts
• Support security audits and compliance requirements
• Serve as the primary technical contact for the IT Project Manager
• Coordinate technical resources and ensure smooth handovers to operations

Requirements

• Several years of experience operating and further developing enterprise networks
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewalling, and network segmentation (VLANs, VRFs, ACLs)
• Experience with VPN technologies: site-to-site, client VPN, IPSec, or equivalent
• Knowledge of hybrid connectivity: Azure ExpressRoute and/or AWS Direct Connect, Azure Arc
• Foundational knowledge of cloud networking: Azure VNets, subnets, NSGs, peering, and/or AWS VPCs and security groups
• Experience with network hardware from leading vendors, including switches, routers, and firewalls (e.g., Check Point, Cisco)
• Open to Network as Code and willing to manage network configurations as code in the future (Ansible, Terraform)
• Scripting skills in PowerShell or Python for network task automation
• Ability to view on-premises and cloud networks as one integrated system
• Analytical troubleshooting skills
• Structured approach to documentation
• Experience collaborating with onsite administrators, cloud engineers, and security teams
• Self-directed working style
• Project experience in site connectivity, network migrations, and segmentation projects
• Technical ownership of architecture, technology decisions, and quality
• Very good German and good English skills
