Responsibilities
- Drive Marketplace and Payments alignment and outcomes by co-owning and guiding the Head of Product; set clear, outcome-focused goals; support teams in exploring the problem space; apply engineering judgment to shape pragmatic solutions; slice problems to enable timely decisions that shorten feedback loops, improve speed to market, strengthen customer and venue value, and deliver measurable business impact.
- Provide technical direction and scaling practices for Marketplace and Payments; set the technical direction with architects and engineers; use guilds to shape and scale direction and practices; raise the bar on reliability, maintainability, performance and security; drive consistency across teams through shared principles, guardrails, and learning.
- Develop strong leaders and teams within Marketplace and Payments; deliberate growth of engineering managers and senior individual contributors; ensure teams are planned and staffed with the right skills; own hiring, succession planning and talent development; coach leaders to be effective people leaders, technical decision-makers and area owners.
- Improve developer experience and enable delivery; remove organizational and technical barriers; partner with Platform to evolve CI/CD, observability and operational excellence; drive responsible use of AI tooling to increase productivity while strengthening quality, security and incident management.
- Foster an inclusive Product Engineering culture; champion inclusivity, transparency and continuous improvement across Product, Design and Engineering as equal partners; reinforce shared values and ways of working to enable Marketplace and Payments teams to collaborate effectively and move fast.
- Apply strategic thinking and focus; help teams balance Now, Next, and Later within domains; work with executive sponsors to translate company objectives into area-level priorities; provide clarity and protection to stay focused while balancing business needs with technical and team health.
- Integrate Product Engineering as part of Treatwell’s product-led organisation; collaborate across Commercial, Customer Support and Group Functions to surface trade-offs early and solve shared problems; enable teams to focus on what matters and deliver end-to-end value for customers and venues.
Requirements
- About you: you are an experienced leader of leaders, guiding multiple teams and coaching engineering managers and team leads to reach their potential.
- You align priorities, communicate trade-offs clearly, and help teams navigate complex cross-company contexts.
- You thrive balancing execution, strategy and people leadership to build sustainable processes and healthy team dynamics.
- You shape technical direction at a high level to improve scalability, reliability and developer experience, while empowering managers and engineers to own execution details.
- You bridge gaps between technical and non-technical partners, building trust-based relationships across the organization.
- You are a strategic thinker who balances pragmatism with ambition and takes pride in scaling teams beyond direct involvement.
- You are a fluent English speaker; other European languages are a plus.
- You are based in the UK, Spain or Italy with the right to work in one of those locations; we do not accept applicants outside these regions.
