- Plan, update, and implement scheduling procedures
- Manage and develop statistics to measure scheduling program effectiveness
- Act as a resource for Interpreter Schedulers
- Coordinate all staff training activities
- Process requests in interpreter scheduling systems
- Analyze clinical situations and determine optimal interpreter communication modes
- Evaluate patients' communication needs, complexities, and preferences
- Determine availability of in-person interpreters while considering travel time and fatigue
- Track ongoing assignments to provide continuity of care
- Submit requests to third-party vendors and confirm assignments in ePARC
- Produce and review interpreter worklist reports in ePARC
- Collaborate with Interpreter Services Supervisors and clinical department managers/supervisors
- Triage and direct calls; answer interpreter-related questions and assist with patient appointment calls
- Monitor interpreter requests, assignments, changes, and cancellations
- Distribute daily schedules and liaise with interpreters and vendor partners
- Assign appropriate interpreter modalities to meet Department of Health, Joint Commission, and ADA standards/regulations
- Triage emergency on-call requests and coordinate same-day add-ons or schedule changes
- Document pager activity and maintain instant messaging communication with interpreters
- Escalate situations to Interpreter Services Supervisors when needed
- Train and onboard Interpreter Schedulers
- Present educational in-services for departments and employee orientations
- Recommend process improvements and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Medical, Secretarial, or related field and 3 years of relevant experience required
- Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience with surgical/appointment scheduling software and electronic medical records preferred
- Customer relations skills preferred
- Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. schedule
- On-call coverage required
- Ability to respond to emergency requests from the on-call pager within 5 minutes
