- Proactively manage the litigation process on assigned claims
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve large and/or complex third-party litigated claim files
- Evaluate coverage and liability exposures
- Decide when to hire external resources for claim investigations, expert analysis or legal services
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Risk Management, Actuarial and Legal staff
- Provide education and information to business partners and credit unions regarding risks, exposures, operations and efficiencies
- Provide timely reporting according to claim handling guidelines
- Handle claims in multiple states
- Pursue maximum recovery or contribution
- Build and solidify partnerships with credit unions through proactive professional consultation
- Consult on credit union risks and loss prevention related to litigation
- Ensure consistent handling of commercial insurance claims
- Integrate recovery processes into claim resolution
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 7 years of claims experience with a focus on litigation
- Demonstrated knowledge of policy coverage and interpretation skills
- Ability to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
- Ability to work independently, including effectively in a remote office environment
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suite and web applications and general computer skills
- Some travel required for mediations, trials and credit union visits
- Understanding of applicable statutes, regulations and case law
- Knowledge of financial services operations
- Ability to handle claims in multiple states
- Adjuster License and Continuing Education as needed
- AIC, CPCU or other professional industry education a plus
- Project management experience a plus
- Prior experience working with Program Third Party Administrators is a plus
