- Define event contracts for backend and frontend teams and build the ingestion edge that enforces them
- Own stream-processing and low-latency state layers that turn raw events into real-time signals
- Design and ship rules and decisioning layers that turn signals into fast, explainable, and safe actions
- Define delivery guarantees, versioning, replay strategy, and privacy-by-design for the event platform in Brazil's regulatory environment
- Scope and deliver the first production use case end to end, from idea and architecture through live system, while documenting reusable patterns
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and present architecture trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
- Set initial standards for code, reviews, on-call, and incident processes
- Build measurement, decision logging, hold-back groups, and historical rule replay capabilities
- Work with the project lead and own technical architecture end to end
- Remain hands-on through production and use AI tools for day-to-day engineering work
Requirements
- Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication
- Real-time systems architecture knowledge
- Production experience building and operating event-driven systems, including Kafka or similar, debugging, and fixing real incidents
- Experience owning schemas and data contracts as long-lived interfaces
- Hands-on experience with stream processing and low-latency state, including out-of-order events, exactly-once delivery, and cancellable timers
- Experience building or integrating rules, decisioning, or real-time personalisation systems
- Track record of making architecture decisions under uncertainty
- Curiosity and a self-starter mindset
