- Examine and analyze human behavior to understand psychological, social, and environmental factors influencing decision-making
- Conduct applied behavioral science research related to insurance and public policy
- Work closely with CIPR researchers and NAIC staff on ongoing projects
- Pursue independent related research interests
- Publish work in peer-reviewed journals
- Present research at academic conferences
- Develop collaborations with external scholars
- Contribute to interdisciplinary conversations about communication, risk, consumer behavior, and public policy
- Clearly present research results in written and oral form
Requirements
- Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a related field such as behavioral science, decision science, economics, communication, or risk management and insurance
- Ph.D. must have been completed within the past two years; expected completion by fall 2026 is acceptable
- Research experience and/or interests related to one or more insurance issues: catastrophe and climate risk; availability and affordability/cost; policyholder protection gaps and purchase decisions; artificial intelligence; data privacy and cyber risk; health and long-term care
- Experience designing and conducting research using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approaches
- Experience with methods such as surveys, experiments, focus groups, interviews, content analysis, behavioral data analysis, or field research
- Strong data analysis skills
- Clear and concise presentation of research results in written and oral form
