- Own the development and ongoing operation of data governance and data management practices within the Public Health Division
- Curate, document, organize, and maintain Public Health data assets and metadata in Collibra
- Drive adoption and usage of Collibra
- Ensure data is accurately documented, understood, appropriately governed, and available for effective use
- Support development and maintenance of data governance processes, standards, guidelines, and SOPs
- Gather, document, validate, and maintain business and technical metadata with Business and Data Stewards
- Maintain the Public Health data catalog, business glossary, data definitions, and governance documentation
- Document data ownership, stewardship, classifications, business rules, data quality requirements, and data lineage
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities in metadata and data documentation
- Facilitate governance workgroups and meetings, prepare materials, document decisions, and track follow-up actions
- Facilitate discussions with business and technical stakeholders to establish shared understanding of data definitions, ownership, and business rules
- Support the Data Governance Lead in developing, reviewing, and maintaining governance standards, procedures, guidelines, and SOPs
- Assist with implementing and continuously improving Public Health data governance processes and practices
- Document data lineage and relationships between source systems, data warehouse assets, and reporting and analytics products
- Develop and maintain metrics and reports on metadata completeness, stewardship activities, data quality, and governance adoption
- Collaborate with Public Health programs, data engineering, analytics, IT, privacy, security, and other stakeholders on data initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Data Management, Business, Analytics, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education
- Knowledge of data governance, data stewardship, metadata management, data catalogs, business glossaries, and data quality practices
- Hands-on experience with Collibra strongly preferred, including training business users, curation and maintenance of data assets, metadata, business glossaries, and related governance content
- Experience with a similar data governance or data catalog tool may be considered in lieu of Collibra experience
- Strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience building effective relationships with Business and Data Stewards, subject matter experts, and technical stakeholders to gather, validate, and maintain metadata
- Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, ArcGIS, or similar data and analytics platforms preferred
- Experience developing and maintaining process documentation, standards, procedures, guidelines, or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
