- Support the Customs/Compliance and Dangerous Goods teams by gathering hours, creating documentation, and organizing system details
- Prepare executive-level presentations and assist with behavioral observation data gathering
- Ensure Customs/Compliance data visibility across North and South America
- Share Customs/Compliance successes and compile alerts, newsletters, work instructions, and training materials
- Assist with Customs/Compliance onsite assessments and standardize structures across sites
- Prepare, review, and organize import/export documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, and Customs Entries
- Assist with HS/HTS goods classification
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to resolve shipment holds and delays
- Maintain import/export records in accordance with statutory retention requirements
- Create and maintain forms as records
- Support lithium battery regulatory compliance under UN3480, UN3481, UN3090, and UN3091
- Prepare and validate Dangerous Goods documentation, including Shipper's Declarations, IMO Dangerous Goods Declarations, and Bills of Lading
- Monitor IATA, IMDG, and DOT regulatory changes and update Standard Work Instructions
- Ensure compliance with IATA DGR requirements, including State and Operator variations, 30% State of Charge limits, and aircraft restrictions
- Manage IMDG shipments, including segregation, container marking, and placarding
- Oversee domestic ground transport under 49 CFR/DOT and manage Excepted versus Fully Regulated shipments
- Support warehouse and storage safety for lithium batteries, including specialized storage zones and fire-code compliance
- Implement segregation protocols for lithium-ion and lithium-metal cells
- Establish Damaged, Defective, or Recalled battery areas and thermal-runaway emergency protocols
- Conduct audits of warehouse racking, labeling, and packaging integrity
- Administer DG awareness, 49 CFR, and IATA training for warehouse staff
- Audit packing lines for correct UN-specification packaging and cushioning materials
- Travel as needed, approximately 35-50%
Requirements
- Minimum A.A/A.S or equivalent hands-on experience in a Customs/Compliance or administrative coordination role
- Current IATA DGR Certification for transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (Category 1 or 6)
- Valid IMDG Code Certification for transport of Dangerous Goods by Sea
- Deep understanding of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations for domestic U.S. transport
- Minimum 2 years in a logistics or warehouse environment specifically focused on high-density lithium battery storage and distribution
- Strong organizational skills and in-depth understanding of documentation standards
- Experience in data compilation and reporting
- Ability to translate complex Customs/Compliance metrics into clear executive summaries
- Excellent communication skills
- Microsoft Office, including advanced PowerPoint and Excel, and G Suite proficiency
- Experience in Logistics or Supply Chain Management focused on handling dangerous goods materials
- Familiarity with UN 38.3 Testing Summaries and ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Customs/Compliance data analysis and tracking skills
- Technical documentation and presentation design skills
- Familiarity with regional logistics
- Experience with lithium battery safety systems, such as specialized fire suppression and thermal monitoring
- Background in EHS management
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems with Dangerous Goods integration
- Proficiency in customs management software and Google Sheets
- Effective auditing practices
- Ability to travel as needed
