- Assist faculty members, principal investigators, and department grant administrators with sponsored proposal development, preparation, and submission
- Prepare, review, and submit complete and compliant proposals
- Interpret funding opportunity announcements and provide guidance on rules, regulations, and procedures
- Develop and review detailed proposal budgets and components
- Submit applications through federal and non-federal online platforms to agencies including NASA, NIH, NSF, and DOE
- Manage highly complex proposals involving multiple departments, institutions, subawards, cost-sharing, institutional commitments, and training grants
- Educate and train faculty, departmental administrators, and staff on proposal development, submission, budgets, sponsor requirements, and Cayuse
- Work independently or collaboratively on surveys, policy and procedure development, forms, special reports, and process improvements
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, university, and sponsor regulations through policy reviews, webinars, trainings, and conferences
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or CHEA
- Related professional experience in research administration within non-profit, higher education, hospital, etc.
- 2–4 years of experience in the job area
- Experience with proposal submission and review and interpretation of funding agencies/sponsors
- Knowledge of sponsored program administration from pre-award through post-award
- Knowledge of sponsored project contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, and requests for proposal or quote
- Understanding of federal and non-federal sponsor research administration guidelines
- Knowledge of CFR, FAR, Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, and Single Audit regulations
- Knowledge of sponsor-specific policies, intellectual property, conflict of interest, publication rights, and indirect cost rates
- Experience with grant submission platforms such as ASSIST, Research.gov, Grants.gov, and NSPIRES
- Experience with Excel and budget development
- Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret policies and work independently in a complex regulatory/legal environment
- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background and/or credit check
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA) and previous Cayuse experience preferred
