Responsibilities
- Categorize, code, summarize, interpret, and calculate registry/case information from nuanced patient medical records
- Ensure accurate submission of data in specified registries or measure data repositories
- Prioritize and organize multiple concurrent tasks and team requests
- Meet tight deadlines and manage expectations, obstacles, and solutions
- Navigate electronic medical records and registry/case entry tools
- Troubleshoot technical issues with systems and applications
- Contribute to team best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and business rule documents
- Identify process improvement opportunities
- Stay current on mandated regulatory and publicly reported data requirements
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Direct clinical experience abstraction experience within 1 year
- RN or LPN Credential or substantial clinical experience
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- High standards for accuracy and attention to detail
- Technical savvy and willingness to learn new systems and technology
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects/patient records
- Clear, consistent communication and ability to adjust style and tone
- Strong self-organization and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to changes in hospital partner timelines, requirements, and project assignments
- Ability to keep PHI secure and confidential
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now or in the future without sponsorship
- Direct Vascular Quality Initiative abstraction experience
- Direct abstraction experience in BMC2 VIC
- Exposure to multiple EMR systems and clinical databases
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with M2S software
- Experience abstracting at least one listed module, including Inferior Vena Cava Filter (required)
