- Drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) project development across the US and internationally
- Qualify new solar and battery storage project opportunities
- Perform technical due diligence on project practicality and assess third-party production estimates, site plans, product documentation and meteorological data
- Respond to RFPs from utilities, municipalities and others for renewable energy procurement
- Coordinate preliminary design evaluation with Business Development, Execution and Finance teams
- Model energy production using PVSYST, Helioscope and Plant Predict
- Model battery dispatch using Excel and Matlab
- Conduct remote and in-person site evaluations
- Perform project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator
- Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts and single lines
- Recommend primary project equipment, including inverters, PV modules, racking and batteries
- Support RFPs, Greenfield Development and Acquisition conceptual-to-30% design studies
- Develop technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals, including coordination of external consultants
- Improve project evaluation processes and products
- Expand the vendor review and approval process
- Contribute to growth planning, continuous process improvement task forces and strategic planning activities
- Contribute to innovation
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction
- Proficiency with renewable energy system modeling tools such as PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope and Plant Predict
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Advanced Excel skills
- Up to 15% travel to project locations and partner offices
- Proficiency with utility power systems preferred
- Master’s degree in engineering (MS) or business (MBA) preferred
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional or PV Design Specialist certification preferred
- OSHA 10hr or comparable job-site safety certification preferred
- SketchUp/Skelion mastery preferred
