Responsibilities
- Contribute to the products we create while helping to grow the next generation of engineering talent.
- Support our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) data teams, responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, supporting data domain analytics, and enabling downstream products such as data views and At Scale cubes.
- Work closely with our most strategic vendors to ensure that third‑party tools and applications are readily available and effectively supported for all product teams that rely on our enterprise data platforms.
- Collaborate and pair with product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions.
- Document, review and ensure that all quality and change control standards are met.
- Write custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases.
- Work with vendors and partners for the successful implementation of critical tooling and platforms.
- Create meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively.
- Evaluate new technologies for adoption across the enterprise.
- Participate in and lead review board sessions to drive consistency across the enterprise.
- Field questions from engineers, product teams, or support teams.
- Monitor tools and participate in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams.
- Provide application support for software running in production.
- Act as a technical escalation point for the engineers on the team.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Software Engineers.
- Attract, retain, and develop top talent to build a world‑class Software Engineering Team.
- Conduct annual and mid‑year reviews by reviewing individual development plans and team feedback.
- Foster collaboration with team members to drive consistency across product teams and find opportunities to expose engineers to career interests.
- Act as a proponent of modern software development practices.
- Guide team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks within and across product teams.
- Participate in and contribute to learning activities around modern software design and development core practices (communities of practice).
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, with a strong hands‑on technical background.
- 2+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience leading data engineering initiatives and managing technical teams in an enterprise environment.
- Strong expertise in cloud-based data platforms, preferably GCP / Big Query.
- Deep knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and large‑scale data processing for high‑volume, enterprise‑scale data environments.
- Experience supporting and operating data platforms with significant data volume and complexity.
- Experience with data orchestration tools, CI/CD pipelines, and modern ETL processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Experience operating in fast‑paced, enterprise‑scale environments with complex systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly understand complicated systems.
