Staff AI Test Automation Engineer

• Build and improve AI-driven test automation workflows using tools such as Claude Code, with AI agents generating, executing, and iterating on Playwright tests




• Evolve the Playwright test framework, including patterns, page-object models, fixtures, and conventions




• Build feedback loops between local test execution, CI pipeline results, and merge request creation




• Drive migration from Geb/Spock to Playwright while maintaining coverage continuity




• Integrate and optimize Playwright execution in GitLab CI/CD with quality gates on merge requests and deployments




• Optimize test feedback through parallelization and caching




• Instrument tests to report pass/fail trends, flakiness rates, and coverage gaps




• Prioritize AI-driven test generation for high-value uncovered areas




• Identify cases suited to API-layer automation or contract tests instead of end-to-end testing




• Build automation for claims systems, contract testing, system integrations, and end-to-end user journeys




• Refine prompts, context structures, and validation patterns to improve first-pass AI-generated test accuracy




• Collaborate with QA, Engineering, and Product teams to increase regression coverage, accelerate delivery, and reduce production defects

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in test automation engineering, SDET, or software engineering with strong testing practices




• Hands-on experience with Agentic AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar to generate and maintain code at scale




• Hands-on experience with Playwright or a comparable modern end-to-end testing framework




• Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript with ability to write production-quality code




• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab, including pipeline configuration, test stages, and merge request workflows




• Solid understanding of REST API testing and when to use API-level tests versus UI-level tests




• Hands-on experience building test automation for claims systems, contract testing, integrations, and user flow journeys




• Experience migrating legacy test automation to a modern framework while maintaining coverage




• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders




• Ability to write clear documentation




• Builder mindset focused on systems, feedback loops, and automation leverage




• Comfort working in ambiguity




• Current authorization to work in the United States




• Nice-to-have: Groovy, Spock, or Geb; Pact or equivalent; health insurance, benefits administration, or regulated-industry experience; internal developer tooling or productivity platform experience
