Offer Description
The Department of communication is one of the centers of communication science in Germany. Fourteen professors and over 40 staff members teach and conduct research at the forefront of the discipline. The degree programmes on offer focus on academic excellence as well as social and professional relevance. The media business working group is responsible for the Master’s in Media Management.
- research collaboration in the field of media management and media economics,as well as publication of research findings
- Teaching on the Master’s programme in Media Management and the Institute’s other degree programmes, including statistics (8 SWS per semester)
- Supervising students and assessing final thesis
- Collaboration within the working group on the organisation of the Master’s programme in Media Management, as well as on academic administration and student advisory services (advice provided in German)
- Participation in academic self-governance
- a successfully completed University degree in communication science or a related discipline
- a PhD in communication science
- at least thirty months’ professional experience in a primary occupation following the successful completion of a degree
- a research interest and profile aligned with the media business working group
- in-depth knowledge of statistical methods, including structural equation modelling, multilevel modelling and QCA
- preferably contacts within the media industry that can be utilised for research and teaching
- relevant teaching experience specifically suited to the curriculum of the Master’s programme in Media Management
- teaching experience in the field of methodology and statistics
- Experience in supervising and assessing final-year thesis, preferably at the interface between communication science and economics
- Experience in academic self-governance
- Knowledge of programme organisation and project management
- Excellent German and English language skills
- Organisational skills and the ability to maintain an overview whilst juggling multiple concurrent tasks
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Communication and problem-solving skills
In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The position is remunerated according to salary gradeA 13 LBesG and to be filled by 12/1/2026 .This is a permanent civil servant position.
