The Institute of Sports at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Media, and Sports invites applications for the position of

University Professor of Sports Psychology

to be filled at the earliest possible date.

Salary grade W 2 LBesG | Civil servant with unlimited tenure

We are looking for a leading researcher to represent the field of sports psychology in both research and teaching. Candidates are expected to have a practice-oriented research profile in the area of mental health and well-being in and through sports.

Preferred areas of focus include children’s and youth sports in relevant settings (e.g., educational institutions, clubs, or informal settings) or competitive sports.

We are looking for a candidate with a focus on diversity-oriented research and the structural integration of such research into teaching, as well as with experience in sports psychology counseling.

The responsibilities of the position include teaching foundational concepts, research methods, and applied concepts in both German and English across all degree programs at the Institute of Sports.

The successful candidate is expected to teach in a didactically sound and committed manner, make active contributions to shaping the curriculum, and be willing to participate in academic self-administration and be involved in continuing education programs

In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in section 49 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.

• A university degree (master’s or equivalent) and a qualified doctoral degree in sports science or psychology. Ideally, the applicant should have earned one of these degrees in the field of psychology.
• A relevant habilitation or academic achievements equivalent to a habilitation
• Outstanding research potential, demonstrated by publications and the acquisition of external funding or participation in projects funded through competitive research grants

Teaching:

• Proof of teaching achievements and university-level teaching experience across a broad range of subjects within the field
• Ability and willingness to teach courses in English and German
