Job Description Summary The JJMT Transformation function is responsible for designing and realizing the future-state supply chain network for Johnson & Johnson MedTech. This function includes oversight of consolidation and rationalization actions for the global distribution network, a strategic shift toward an asset-light model, and the build-out of new, future-looking logistics capabilities including partner management, network design, systems strategy, and defining the transition standards required to sustain performance in the future state. Purpose of Position As part of the Business Architecture function within Transformation, this role defines and enables the outbound freight capability required to support the future-state, asset-light operating model.
The position is responsible for establishing the end-to-end outbound freight capability, including process standards, functional requirements, and integration points across Order-to-Cash (OTC), warehouse operations, and transportation execution. This includes defining how outbound freight is executed across J&J-operated and 3PL-operated sites, ensuring alignment between business processes, systems capabilities, and partner execution models.
The role works closely with Systems Strategy, Network Design, Partner Management, and regional teams to ensure outbound freight capabilities are clearly defined, consistently deployed, and aligned with transformation objectives, including service, cost, and scalability targets.
Responsibilities
Define the end-to-end outbound freight capability, including shipment execution, carrier connectivity, labeling, manifesting, and freight visibility across J&J and 3PL-operated sites
Establish global process standards and policies for outbound freight execution, ensuring alignment across regions, site types, and operating models
Define business requirements and capability needs for outbound freight, ensuring alignment with Order-to-Cash processes and upstream/downstream dependencies
Partner with Systems Strategy and IT teams to translate business requirements into system capabilities (e.g., transport execution tools, carrier integration, labeling solutions)
Define deployment frameworks and playbooks to support consistent rollout of outbound freight capabilities across sites and regions
Ensure alignment between outbound freight capability and 3PL partner capabilities, including defining minimum requirements and integration expectations
Collaborate with Network Design and Value Assurance teams to ensure outbound freight capability assumptions are reflected in business cases and network decisions
Define KPIs and performance measurement frameworks for outbound freight execution, including service, cost, and operational efficiency metrics
Identify gaps in current outbound freight processes and capabilities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and scalability
Support governance forums by providing visibility into capability definition, deployment progress, and key risks or dependencies
Ensure alignment between outbound freight capability and contractual frameworks, including coordination with Procurement and Partner Management teams
Capture and standardize best practices and lessons learned to continuously refine capability frameworks and support future deployments
Education and/or additional training
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
A Master's degree or MBA in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
Experience And Functional Competencies
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations, with strong exposure to outbound freight execution
Deep understanding of transport execution processes, including carrier connectivity, labeling, parcel and freight management, and shipment visibility
Experience defining or implementing transportation capabilities, systems, or process frameworks in complex, multi-site environments
Experience working within or alongside 3PL-operated logistics environments, with understanding of partner capabilities and operating models
Strong understanding of integration points between transportation, warehouse operations, and Order-to-Cash processes
Experience collaborating with IT and Systems teams to translate business requirements into technology solutions
