We are looking for an experienced Domain Integration Architect to support a major transformation program focused on moving from tightly coupled, point-to-point integrations toward a composable, domain-driven integration architecture .
The consultant will work closely with Product Area teams and Integration Platform teams to establish clear domain boundaries, expose System and Process APIs, implement event-driven patterns, and progressively modernize a complex SAP-centric landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Build an inventory of existing integrations, including APIs, batch files, custom SAP developments, RFCs and legacy point-to-point interfaces .
- Assess existing technical debt and identify high-priority integration dependencies to modernize.
- Facilitate collaboration between Product Area teams and Integration Platform teams working with Kong, Solace, SAP CPI and MuleSoft .
- Define and implement API-led connectivity and event-driven integration patterns .
- Support the transition toward a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and composable architecture.
- Drive incremental modernization initiatives with short delivery cycles rather than large-scale Big Bang transformations.
- Define and monitor transformation KPIs, including coupling reduction, Process APIs exposed, events published and legacy interfaces retired.
- Coach technical teams on DDD, integration patterns and architecture best practices.
- Develop integration standards covering API naming, versioning, system/process layers and contract ownership.
- Ensure knowledge transfer and capability building across the organization.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in Enterprise Integration Architecture .
- Solid knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
- Hands-on experience with API-led connectivity and event-driven architectures .
- Strong experience with at least one of the following technologies:
- MuleSoft
- SAP CPI
- Solace
- Kong
- Knowledge of modernization patterns such as Strangler Fig, Anti-Corruption Layer (ACL), Change Data Capture (CDC) and Outbox patterns .
- Ability to work effectively with both engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication, facilitation and architecture coaching skills.
The consultant will contribute to the creation of a consolidated integration inventory, transformation dashboard and integration playbook, while supporting the delivery of concrete migration patterns across the different Product Areas. A structured handover and capability transfer plan will also be expected at the end of the engagement.
