Responsibilities
- You are highly qualified in the field of experimental low-temperature solid-state physics, with a focus on quantum physics and quantum technologies, and are actively advancing the field.
- You are developing an innovative research program that complements KIT’s existing research priorities and provides new impetus, for example in the areas of hybrid quantum systems, novel qubit platforms, quantum circuits, quantum sensing, and topologically protected quantum systems.
- You foresee collaboration with the theoretical research institutes and the Institute for Quantum Materials and Technologies (IQMT) and the institute for Nanotechnology (INT) at KIT, and participate in national and international research consortia.
- You will play a key role in the overarching strategic development of the KIT Research Focus on Quantum Technologies.
- You contribute to the foundational training in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Physics with 9h per week during the semester and help shape the next generation of researchers in the fields of solid-state physics and quantum technologies.
- You are actively involved in knowledge and technology transfer, for example through patents, industry partnerships, or support for spin-offs.
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a doctoral degree, have a track record of outstanding research achievements with international visibility, a proven record of success in securing competitive external funding, and excellent teaching skills.
- Prospectively, the position includes teaching in German within the Bachelor’s program.
Employment is subject to Art. 14, par. (2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Art. 47 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges).

Salary is governed by the statutory provisions of the State of Baden-Württemberg and comprises the basic salary of salary grade W3.
