Postdoc (m/f/div) in the Department of Decision Neuroscience and Nutrition
The German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbruecke (DIfE) is a member of the Leibniz Association. The institute’s mission is to conduct experimental and clinical research in the field of nutrition and health– with the aim of understanding the molecular basis of nutrition-dependent diseases– and of developing new strategies for treatment and prevention.
We invite applications for the Department of Decision Neuroscience and Nutrition , formed as part of a joint appointment with the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, for one Postdoc (m/f/div) starting on April 1, 2025 .
The general aim of the department is to understand the complex mechanisms of human decision-making (consumption, social, or economic). We investigate different strategies that modulate diverse decisions. These strategies and underlying mechanisms will be investigated in healthy and clinical populations (i.e., psychiatric or endocrine) both in experimental and cohort data. This highly interdisciplinary research requires a systematic combination of neural, physiological, and metabolic data.
Tasks:
- Conducting research projects focusing on the emergence of choices and factors influencing those choices (psychological and neurobiological).
- Planning and implementation of research projects and analysis of multimodal data (neuronal, physiological, metabolic, and behavioral data), using current and innovative methods.
- Presentation of research results (in scientific journals, colloquia and conferences, manuscript publication).
Requirements and skills:
- Excellent master and doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive science, biology, computer science, medicine, or an equivalent discipline.
- Relevant research experience or interest in the field of decision neuroscience or neuroeconomics is highly welcome, but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of neuroscientific methods (fMRI, EEG, MEG, or NIRS) and/or in psychophysics would be of great advantage.
- Programming skills in MATLAB, R, or Python and experience in advanced statistical analyses.
- Knowledge of behavioral modeling would be of great advantage.
- High motivation and interest in interdisciplinary collaboration in a versatile international research environment.
