Professorship (W 2) German Literature and Media Didactics
The University of Wuppertal is a dynamic, networked and research-oriented campus university. Collectively, more than 26,000 researchers, academic staff and students face the challenges of society, culture, education, economics, technology and the environment.
The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in German Literature and Media Didactics. The position will be based in the School of Humanities. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in research and teaching.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Your field of work is literary didactics with a research focus on media didactics (including digital literacy). Your expertise is demonstrated by proven qualifications and substantial contributions in research and teaching.
- You are internationally networked and have experience in conducting research projects.
- You are highly committed to the continuation of existing interdisciplinary research initiatives across disciplines and schools, e.g. those currently established in the profile lines “Education, Knowledge and Culture in Social Contexts” and “Language, Narrative and Edition”.
- In teaching, you offer an attractive range of courses for the School’s degree programmes. You are open to adopting and using modern teaching methods.
- You are responsible for the teaching-related degree programmes, in particular with a focus on secondary schools (Sekundarstufe I, Haupt-/Real-/Sekundar- and Gesamtschulen), vocational colleges (Berufskolleg) as well as grammar schools and comprehensive schools (Gymnasium and Gesamtschulen), and participate in their further development.
- You have an interdisciplinary orientation and are willing to work in the Interdisciplinary Center for Language Teaching and Learning (Interdisziplinären Zentrum für sprachliches Lehren und Lernen, IZSLL).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed university degree in German (Master of Education, state examination in the teaching degree programme or equivalent)
- Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate, a topic relevant to the advertised position is desirable.
- Further relevant scientific achievements performed during a first professorship include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.
- Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated by excellent performance in the appointment procedure.
You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by publications, teaching experience, international cooperation and successful acquisition of third-party funding. Please enclose relevant certificates and supporting documents with your application.
