LCV APS-2 Germany: MILVAN Inspector

The MILVAN Medical Inspector is responsible for inspecting, fabricating, modifying, repairing, and maintaining medical storage and transport containers used to support APS-2 medical readiness operations. The position ensures the serviceability, accountability, safety, and regulatory compliance of medical storage systems used to protect medical equipment, supplies, and mission-essential materiel. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, documenting deficiencies, supporting corrective actions, and maintaining storage solutions that preserve medical materiel readiness.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Inspect MILVANs, medical storage containers, racks, shelving, fixtures, and related storage systems used to support medical equipment and materiel.
- Verify medical storage and transportation configurations comply with applicable technical, safety, cleanliness, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform fabrication, modification, repair, and adjustment of metal components, brackets, mounts, cages, containers, and support structures associated with medical equipment and storage systems.
- Identify damage, corrosion, contamination concerns, improper storage conditions, and other deficiencies that may impact medical readiness or equipment protection.
- Document inspection results, deficiencies, repairs, and corrective actions in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate inspection, repair, and corrective action activities with Medical Supply, maintenance, logistics, quality, safety, and Government personnel.
- Support the preservation, packaging, labeling, segregation, and proper storage of medical equipment and sensitive medical materiel.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, welding equipment, cutting tools, and inspection equipment to safely perform assigned duties.
- Operate material handling equipment, as authorized, to move, stage, position, or inspect containers and medical equipment.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, health, safety, housekeeping, and infection-control requirements applicable to medical storage operations.
- Assist with inventories, cyclic inspections, condition assessments, and readiness evaluations of medical containers, equipment, and storage assets.
- Provide timely updates regarding inspection findings, repair status, and readiness impacts to supervisors and stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance storage integrity, equipment protection, inspection quality, and operational readiness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, And Certifications)
- Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain a NACI. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Green Card holder who has lived within the United States for at least the last 3 years to be eligible for this position.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in fabrication, inspection, maintenance, medical logistics, supply operations, equipment sustainment, or a related field.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication, container inspection, tool utilization, measurement techniques, repair documentation, and workplace safety practices.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical guidance, work instructions, safety procedures, and inspection checklists.
- Ability to work around medical equipment and materiel while adhering to handling, storage, cleanliness, and accountability requirements.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in warehouse, maintenance, container yard, and medical storage environments, including exposure to varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment or obtain required certifications, as required by the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Army medical logistics, USAMMA operations, APS-2 medical programs, medical equipment storage, or medical materiel readiness activities.
- Experience inspecting MILVANs, ISO containers, medical storage systems, warehouses, or fabricated support structures.
- Familiarity with GCSS-Army, inventory management systems, work order systems, or other logistics information systems.
- Forklift or material handling equipment certification.
- Welding, metal fabrication, container inspection, HAZCOM, or medical logistics certifications.
- HAZMAT 12 certification or experience supporting hazardous material handling, medical materiel storage, container inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
