Head of Business Development Germany (m/f/d)

Region: Germany, combining home-office work with access to established offices in Hamburg and Munich

Reporting: General Manager

About the Company

For an established international group active in the consumer electronics, circular economy and recycling ecosystem, we are looking for an entrepreneurial commercial professional to drive the next phase of growth of its German business.

The group works with manufacturers, importers, distributors, retailers and online businesses within the consumer electronics sector, providing services connected with product compliance, take-back, collection, logistics and recycling.

Through one of its group companies, the organisation already has an established presence in the German recycling market and has built a substantial local customer base. The German business is now entering its next phase of commercial development.

Germany is one of the group’s key strategic growth markets. The objective is to significantly expand the customer portfolio, strengthen the company’s market presence and develop new business opportunities across the consumer electronics value chain.

This is a genuine business-building role rather than a traditional account management position.

The successful candidate will take ownership of new business development in Germany and play a key role in identifying attractive customer segments, developing commercial opportunities and shaping the company’s go-to-market approach.

The focus will be particularly on building relationships with manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers and other companies operating in or around the consumer electronics sector.

An existing German team will continue to manage ongoing customer relationships and provide the necessary technical and regulatory expertise. This allows the Head of Business Development to focus primarily on market development, customer acquisition and commercial growth.

Working directly with the General Manager, the local team and central group functions, the successful candidate will have considerable freedom to influence how the German business develops.

As the organisation grows, the position may evolve into a broader commercial leadership role, including the opportunity to build and lead a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and acquire new B2B customers, particularly among consumer electronics manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers and e-commerce companies.
  • Develop new business opportunities from initial contact through negotiation to contract closing.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers and develop a strong network within the German market.
  • Understand customers’ business models, commercial challenges and requirements and translate them into suitable solutions together with internal experts.
  • Identify attractive customer segments, sales channels and market opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s go-to-market strategy and market positioning in Germany.
  • Work closely with the German expert team as well as central marketing, product development and back-office functions.
  • Support lead generation through targeted market and marketing activities.
  • Represent the company in customer meetings, tenders, industry events and relevant business networks.
  • Monitor market developments, competitors and emerging commercial opportunities.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in B2B sales, business development or key account management.
  • Proven success in new customer acquisition and solution-based sales.
  • Relevant commercial experience within consumer electronics, electrical equipment, technology distribution, retail, e-commerce or another related B2B environment.
  • A strong network or understanding of the German consumer electronics market would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong commercial drive and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to open doors, establish new relationships and independently develop business opportunities.
  • Ability to combine hands-on sales activities with strategic market development.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent command of German and working proficiency in English.
  • Willingness to travel within Germany.

Experience in recycling, circular economy, environmental compliance, EPR or WEEE is welcome but not required. More important is a strong commercial track record and relevant experience with manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers or other companies within the consumer electronics ecosystem.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Take ownership of business development in one of the group’s key strategic markets.
  • Build on an existing German presence, customer base and operational infrastructure.
  • Focus on new business acquisition and market development rather than ongoing account management.
  • Shape the company’s go-to-market strategy and identify new customer segments and commercial opportunities.
  • Work directly with senior leadership and have a visible impact on the development of the German business.
  • Benefit from the technical and regulatory expertise of an established internal team.
  • Join an international group with capabilities across the wider consumer electronics, recycling and circular economy value chain.
  • Develop the role over time, with the potential to build a team and assume broader commercial responsibility.
