This role supports our Strategy and M&A activities by delivering high-quality, fast-turnaround research on markets, competitors, target companies, and industry trends. Rather than starting from scratch with every project, the person systematically builds, operates, and improves a portfolio of reusable, AI-enabled research workflows that can be applied across strategy and M&A projects and market scans initiatives, including scheduled monitoring runs that produce regularly updated reports.
A core element of the role is staying at the forefront of the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and continuously improving the toolset. What is state-of-the-art today will be standard in six months and outdated in twelve; the right person sees this as an opportunity, not a burden.
The impact of this role extends beyond individual output. The ideal candidate’s way of working—pragmatic, AI-native, learning-driven—rubs off on others. Colleagues across Strategy, M&A, and adjacent functions should see what is possible, learn from the methods used, and gain low-friction access to the tools being built. Ultimately, success means that others in the organization start working in similar ways.
Your role in our team Research & Intelligence Delivery
Independently conduct research for Strategy and M&A projects: market analyses, competitive landscapes, target screenings, longlist development, industry and trend analyses.
Evaluate external signals such as earnings calls, annual reports, capex announcements, market reports, patent data, and industry news.
Produce management‑ready research outputs—from structured one‑pagers to detailed market and target profiles.
Building Reusable Research Tools
Develop modular, AI‑enabled workflows that can be adapted and reused across multiple projects (e.g., target screening pipelines, competitor profile generators, earnings call analysis).
Build scheduled monitoring runs that deliver regularly updated reports on defined markets, competitors, or watchlists.
Actively monitor output quality: identify hallucinations, poorly evaluated sources, or drops in relevance; iteratively refine prompts, pipelines, and data sources.
Continuous Learning & AI‑Landscape Awareness
Actively follow the AI tooling and research methods landscape (new models, agent frameworks, specialized research tools, new data sources).
Conduct regular structured evaluations to determine which new approaches could improve or replace existing tools.
Share relevant developments with the team so that Strategy and M&A benefit from new possibilities.
Run independent hands‑on experiments with new tools before decisions are made—maintaining healthy skepticism of hype.
Enablement & Multiplier Effect
Make AI‑enabled research workflows visible in practice—through concrete examples, demos, short internal sessions, or joint work on real questions.
Document and prepare tools so that others can use or adapt them without lengthy onboarding.
Build an informal network of AI‑curious colleagues across the organization to accelerate knowledge sharing.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work in the Strategy and M&A team and with business functions to clarify research questions.
Translate complex findings into clear, decision‑oriented recommendations for senior stakeholders, with clear graphical presentation.
Your profile Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Business Informatics, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a comparable field.
3+ years of professional experience in research, intelligence, strategy, or consulting roles—ideally with exposure to strategic projects and M&A.
Hands‑on experience with modern AI tools in day‑to‑day work: LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.), research workflows, prompt engineering, and ideally early experience with agentic or API‑based setups.
Demonstrable learning trajectory in the AI space: the ability to point to specific tools or approaches explored over the past 6–12 months and the lessons learned.
Structured analytical thinking and the ability to translate fuzzy research questions into clear methodologies.
Genuine enjoyment of sharing knowledge and methods; explains complex things simply, builds bridges to less AI‑fluent colleagues, and sees enablement as part of personal success.
Strong understanding of how AI can be applied in strategy and M&A‑related environments.
Excellent English skills; German fluency required.
High initiative, curiosity, and a pragmatic, get‑it‑done mindset.
Preferred
Experience with Python, APIs, web scraping, or workflow automation tools (n8n, Make, Zapier, etc.).
Experience with AI agent frameworks or RAG‑based research systems.
Experience building scheduled data pipelines or monitoring systems.
Industry exposure to Life Sciences, MedTech, Pharma, or industrial B2B sectors.
Experience in target screening, due diligence support, or competitive intelligence in an M&A context.
Your benefits
Flexible working hours.
Flat hierarchies and efficient internal communication.
Being part of an internationally growing team.
Daily meal allowance of EUR 8.00.
Annual ticket of “Wiener Linien / VOR”.
Internal and external training and further development opportunities.
Nice office and modern working atmosphere in the heart of Vienna.
We offer an attractive salary package in line with your qualification, experience and individual competencies. The minimum salary for this position is EUR 55,000.00 p.a. (based on full‑time). We are willing to pay a market‑rate salary depending on your qualifications and professional background.
We value diversity and therefore welcome all applicants—regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic or social origin, religion/belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity, and any other protected status.
