Korn Ferry has partnered with one of our clients on their search for an experienced Head of Integrated Business Planning. Our client is an international company active in industrial technology and engineered systems. The role is based in the Greater Nuremberg Metropolitan Area in Germany.

Purpose of the Position

The Head of Integrated Business Planning will align customer demand, commercial opportunities, portfolio priorities, engineering readiness, project delivery, supply, capacity, operations, and financial outcomes. The role will establish a disciplined, decision-focused planning process that enables earlier management action, improves delivery reliability, supports profitable growth, and strengthens inventory and working-capital control.

The successful candidate will lead the central IBP organization and influence senior functional, regional, and site leaders across a global matrix.

The Head of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) will have end-to-end ownership of the global IBP operating model, integrated business plan and associated decision-making framework, ensuring alignment between commercial demand, supply, capacity, engineering, portfolio, operations and financial objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the global IBP process, establishing an integrated monthly IBP cycle for strategic and medium-term planning and a weekly S&OE rhythm for operational execution.
  • Create one integrated, fact-based business plan covering demand, supply, capacity, portfolio and project risks, inventory, cash, revenue, margin and overall financial outlook.
  • Chair the executive IBP process, enabling timely decisions, resolving cross-functional trade-offs and escalating material issues with quantified scenarios, risks and clear recommendations.
  • Establish and enforce IBP governance, including planning standards, decision rights, approval thresholds, planning horizons, data requirements, accountability and escalation processes.
  • Align senior stakeholders across the global organization, including Commercial, Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Portfolio and Finance, around a common plan and set of priorities.
  • Translate the integrated plan into execution, ensuring IBP decisions are reflected in operational priorities, resource allocation and financial plans.
  • Build and lead the central IBP organization, developing Demand Planning, Supply Planning, S&OE and Transformation & Governance capabilities while establishing a strong planning community across regions and sites.
  • Drive the IBP transformation, including the target operating model, organizational capabilities, standardized processes, data discipline, analytics and supporting SAP/planning technology landscape.
  • Strengthen performance management and continuous improvement, driving improvements in delivery reliability, planning stability, revenue and margin, cash and working capital, inventory, capacity utilization and supply risk.
  • Exercise delegated decision authority over the integrated plan and cross-functional planning decisions within agreed thresholds, holding functional, regional and site leaders accountable for delivery.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Fluent English required; German or other relevant languages advantageous.
  • At least 12+ years of relevant experience in supply chain, operations, IBP, S&OP, S&OE, enterprise planning or business transformation.
  • At least five years of senior leadership experience in IBP, S&OP or a comparable cross-functional role.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and owning a global IBP or S&OP operating model.
  • Experience leading central teams and influencing senior stakeholders across a global matrix organization.
  • Experience operating at management team level and engaging with senior executives.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating commercial demand, project milestones, engineering, supply, capacity and financial plans.
  • Experience in a complex industrial, manufacturing, engineer-to-order or project-led environment is strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of measurable improvements in delivery, inventory, working capital, planning stability, margin or cash performance.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • APICS, CPIM, CSCP, Six Sigma or comparable certification is preferred.
