Accounting Manager in Genf

Accounting Manager (M/F) – 8–10 years experience

Leading Advisers is supporting a leading international commodities trading company based in Geneva in the recruitment of its future Accounting Manager.

In a dynamic and demanding environment, you will be responsible for the accuracy of reporting, financial governance and the smooth running of accounting operations for the EMEA region as well as for the central accounting function.

Responsibilities

1. EMEA Accounting

• Support and coordinate the EMEA close (monthly, quarterly and annual): timeline, reconciliations, intercompany alignment and prompt escalation of issues.
• Prepare and review statutory reporting and consolidation data in line with company policy, IFRS and local requirements.
• Apply consistent accounting treatment to recurring topics (accruals, intercompany, foreign currency transactions and valuation), escalating complex matters for review.
• Help maintain a rigorous internal control environment: documented processes, review controls, audit support and timely follow-up on recommendations.
• Coordinate with the Financial Controlling, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Legal / Compliance, Trade Finance and Operations teams on urgent matters, analyses and commentary.

2. Central Accounting Operations

• Provide day‑to‑day support and guidance to the Central Accounting Operations team split between Geneva and Dubai, helping to set priorities and maintain delivery pace during intense closing periods.
• Manage and oversee key central accounting processes: accounts payable processing and payment runs, intercompany transactions and reconciliations, bank account closing, close‑readiness and data completeness controls, as well as system reconciliations and master data updates.

3. Improvement, Controls and Efficiency

• Contribute to accounting transformation projects (processes, policies, controls, systems), from design through to adoption.
• Identify and implement measurable efficiency gains through standardization, automation and improved data quality.
• Support governance by strengthening controls and maintaining clear documentation.
• Build effective working relationships with Finance, Operations, Tax and other stakeholders, sharing best practices and supporting a culture of accountability.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting / finance; a professional accounting qualification (such as CPA, ACA/ACCA, CA) is a strong asset.
• Approximately 8 to 10 years of accounting experience, ideally gained in commodities or energy trading; prior Big 4 audit experience is an advantage.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and statutory accounting, with the ability to apply policies to day‑to‑day transactions and identify items requiring in‑depth review.
• Prior experience supervising or coordinating colleagues, or leading cross‑functional workstreams across different functions and locations.
• Demonstrated exposure to process improvement projects (standardization, automation, strengthening of controls, system implementation).
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, a sense of responsibility towards deadlines and resilience under pressure.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, enabling you to communicate accounting topics clearly to stakeholders, auditors and colleagues.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite, with good ease on financial systems (knowledge of SAP, preferably S/4HANA and the FI/CO modules, is an asset).
• Impeccable integrity and a keen sense of discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
