Legal Counsel (f/m/d) fully qualified lawyer

Your tasks:

As a Legal Counsel/fully qualified lawyer, you will be part of a team of 13 lawyers supporting the various business departments within the EEX Group regarding the legal requirements that may arise in the context of being an internationally operating group (with various exchanges and clearing houses).

Your main focus will be the legal support for the clearing house European Commodity Clearing AG, the banking subsidiary of EEX AG, the operator of Europe’s leading energy exchange. This includes:

• Maintenance and further development of the rules and regulations of the clearing house
• Negotiation of contracts in German and English
• Communication with domestic and foreign supervisory authorities in regulatory matters
• Participation in consultations and active monitoring of legal developments in the field of commodity and commodity derivatives clearing
• Advising colleagues from various departments on clearing-related matters in general civil law, insolvency law, and banking law

As part of the team, you will deepen your current knowledge on banking-related legal aspects, so that topics like EMIR, German Banking Act, and other domestic and foreign financial regulations become your field of expertise. We are happy to support you with further training in this area. We value the joint development of ideas, encouraging and supporting each other to further develop professionally and personally within the legal team and with other areas within EEX and Deutsche Börse Group.

You bring along:

• You are a fully qualified lawyer with 1. and 2. German state examination
• You are an open-minded team player working well both autonomously and collaboratively across jurisdictions
• With your analytical and communication skills, you can proactively identify problems, execute pragmatic legal solutions, and drive projects
• You are a flexible learner with a keen interest in banking and financial markets law and a commitment to further professional development
• You can speak, write, and present in English at a business fluency level; other foreign languages are welcome
• You are experienced in drafting and negotiating complex contracts in both German and English
