The Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften – ISAS – e. V. develops efficient analytical methods for health research. Thus, it contributes to the improvement of the prevention, early diagnosis, and therapy of diseases like cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases or cancer. Overall, the institute strives to advance precision medicine by combining knowledge from different fields such as biology, chemistry, pharmacology, physics, and computer science. ISAS is a member of the Leibniz Association and is publicly funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and its federal states.

At our location in Dortmund we are looking for a student assistant/master’s thesis (m/f/d): Fluorescence microscopy and mass spectrometry imaging of neutrophils.

Your tasks:

  • Establish new fluorescence microscopy protocols for neutrophils from blood and in tissues.
  • Perform mass spectrometry imaging measurements of neutrophils from blood and within tissues.
  • Combine information from fluorescence microscopy and mass spectrometry imaging in an integrated workflow.
  • Apply the methodology to disease models.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related fields.
  • Experience with working procedures in a wet lab is necessary.
  • Experience with working procedures in a cell culture lab is necessary.
  • Mass spectrometry and/or fluorescence microscopy expertise is beneficial.

The position is initially limited to 6 months within the framework of the Wissenschaftszeit-vertragsgesetz, with a working time of 8 hours per week. It is remunerated as a mini-job.
