SAFE is seeking to fill the position of a Student Assistant (m/f/d) in the area of Household Finance (38 hours/month). We are looking for a student assistant to support SAFE researchers in the Department of Household Finance (Professor Dr. Christine Laudenbach) with their research projects (e.g. literature studies, data acquisition, preparation of empirical analyses, and conduction of field experiments). The focus of this department is on the areas of Behavioral Economics and Household Finance. Research projects involve the analyses of the driving forces of financial decision-making by private households and experiments on how to improve the quality of these decisions (e.g. through financial education, financial advice or decision-making tools).

Your Profile

  • Bachelor- or Master-student of/in finance, economics, business, computer science, applied statistics, data science or a related discipline
  • Interested in (Household) Finance topics
  • Very good knowledge of the German and English language
  • Ideally first experience in academic work in the area of Finance (e.g. Seminars or Bachelor Thesis)
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and first experience with financial and risk databases (SNL, Eikon, Bloomberg, etc.)
  • First programming experience (Python, R, etc.) and ideally knowledge of statistical software (e.g. STATA)
  • Excellent organizational skills and analytical thinking, ability to work independently, and high reliability

The infrastructure of a modern research center with excellent contacts to the scientific and financial community. You will be working in a very attractive working environment in the House of Finance at Goethe University with an enthusiastic team of colleagues. The position is for 6 months from November 15th, 2023, on average 38 hours per month - the temporal distribution of working hours is negotiable.
