About the Role
We’re looking for a Team Lead Data Scientist for GenAI to join our Data Science team of 20+ in our analytics centre in Karlsruhe or our headquarters in London. This role is a unique opportunity to explore and shape the GenAI model landscape in a large data business with 20,000+ B2B users and rich proprietary content & data on global markets and forecasts which no other model has access to. Our vision is that through natural language, human decision makers can search, understand, visualize and summarise current global market trends as well as interrogate global data, connect with our numerical predictive models on future trends and forecasts, and derive personalised decision recommendations through Agentic AI.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, deploy, continuously evaluate, and optimize model architectures to achieve our GenAI and Agentic AI vision in close collaboration with cross-functional team members and external development partners.
- Recommend & explore model design choices and options to optimize for result quality, domain knowledge context, speed, understandability, cost, stability, etc.
- Coordinate a small team of 3-5 Data Scientists hands-on on the execution of the product-led roadmap in close integration with software developers and engineers.
- Align the backlog for GenAI with product manager(s), UX researchers, and technology leaders. Contribute Data Science building blocks to the backlog and articulate the added value.
- Work with other internal Data Science teams to connect GenAI solutions with other predictive & prescriptive data and models into a coherent and customizable customer experience.
- Creatively identify, share, and experiment on new model opportunities for internal/external business use cases. Analyze model usage and feed insights back into the development process.
- Contribute to our 20+ Data Scientist community & culture by fostering team spirit, engagement, and sharing learnings & best practices.
Key Skills / Experience Required:
- 3-5+ years industry experience in GenAI related technologies such as Deep Learning and NLP. Personal track record of success. In-depth knowledge of underlying concepts behind LLMs.
- Initial experience in coordinating small teams and setting teams up for success. Achieving high team morale (line management responsibility a plus).
- Initial experience in project coordination with stakeholders outside Data Science.
- Standard python machine learning & NLP techniques and popular libraries (e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow, nltk, gensim, spacy).
- Essential software development principles (modularisation, versioning e.g., with GIT, tests, understandable code).
- Degree in a scientific field relevant to Data Science.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills (in English).

- Agentic workflows and knowledge graphs.
- Scrum and project management best practices.
- Personal interest to learn about commodity markets and trading.
