A temporary opportunity up to 120 days in the Office of the Assistant Register and Director of Operations (ARDO) supporting the Assistant Register and the ARDO directorate, in the role of Administrative Specialist, GS-9/11. Depending on the qualification of the applicant, this is either a reimbursable short-term employment detail with no change in salary or a short-term employment promotion.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Administrative Management of an Organization
  • Human Resources Management Services
  • Writing Correspondence and Reports
  • Coordinating Special Projects

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

Permanent, full-time employees of the Library of Congress in good standing with at least a satisfactory/successful performance rating. Temporary and indefinite employees are not eligible.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a GS-11 for a STED.
  • Must have at least one year at the GS-9 for a GS-11 STEP.
  • Must be a GS-8 for six months for a GS-9 STEP.
  • Must be one year since last STEP.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel as well as online conference tools such as Zoom and Teams.
  • Must have experience with Human Resources matters such as the creation and monitoring of personnel actions as well as office management.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent written and communication skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a temporary appointment with no expectation of permanent placement. The incumbent will work a flexitime, compflex or variflex schedule. A combination of onsite and telework will be permitted. The position is telework-eligible with two onsite days per pay period. The dates of this assignment are projected to be November 19, 2023, through January 21, 2024. If the budget permits, rotations for additional qualified applicants may be available. The assignment may be extended at the option of the Copyright Office and agreement of all parties.
