LAS Art Foundation is seeking an Assistant Curator to join its Curatorial team.
This is a research-led curatorial role suited to a curious, collaborative and highly organised individual with a strong interest in contemporary art and the transformative impact of emerging technologies and new knowledge systems.
Working closely with the Head of Programme and across the wider organisation, the Assistant Curator will contribute to the development and enrichment of programme strands, commissions and public programmes through rigorous interdisciplinary research and project coordination.
The role offers opportunities to shape new areas of inquiry, cultivate strategic partnerships and contribute to LAS's evolving research methodologies and curatorial approaches.
- WHAT YOU DO
- Research and Programme Development
• Undertake research across LAS's core areas of inquiry, including
- Artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous systems
- Interspecies relationships and planetary futures
- Quantum technologies and biotechnologies
- Emerging governance models
- Digital world-building and alterfuturisms
- Perception and consciousness in relation to technological and societal change
- Contribute to curatorial ideation and the development of new programme concepts informed by ongoing research, including identifying emerging ideas, practitioners and developments relevant to LAS's programme.
- Build and maintain networks with artists, researchers, scientists, technologists, academic institutions, communities and industry partners.
- Contribute to LAS's research methodologies and knowledge-sharing practices, including the use of emerging platforms and tools.
- Grow and maintain LAS’s online resources.
- Prepare presentations and reference materials to support programme development.
- Project Support
- Support the planning and delivery of a range of programmes, including coordinating information and communications between internal teams, artists, external collaborators and programme partners.
- Coordinate editorial timelines, contributors and production schedules, and review project texts, including website, wall and leaflet texts.
- Maintain accessibility standards across projects and develop associated assets.
- Support the planning and delivery of public programmes, talks, tours, workshops, online initiatives and learning activities.
- Contribute to outreach and audience engagement initiatives.
WHO YOU ARE
- 2–4 years of professional experience working across contemporary art and technology.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking interdisciplinary research and translating complex ideas into accessible texts and curatorial formats.
- Experience supporting artist commissions, research and development projects, exhibitions or public programmes.
- Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities, with experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
- Full professional fluency in both German and English, written and spoken.
- Eligibility to work in Germany.
