We’re looking for a SeniorBackend Developer to join one of our energetic teams. In this role, you will help drive the growth and development of our Hospitality product group, powering our passion to deliver unmatched reliability, deeper value, and long-term delight for our customers and strengthen our comprehensive commerce platform.

You will be joining the team driving the Lightspeed L- and G-series products, which power hospitality businesses across the globe and help them deliver exceptional guest experiences. Our mission is to stay ahead of customer needs and evolving regulations, while at the same time modernizing our technology stack to ensure these products remain reliable, scalable, and future-ready.

You will join an international, independent and collaborative team, continuously improving our engineering practices, infrastructure and codebase, all while keeping it fun. Most importantly, your work will directly shape the daily experience of business owners and hospitality guests.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Working alongside some of the most brilliant minds in the industry, you will contribute to the L&G series product by building new features and improving the developer experience.

• Balance core duties, spanning from building new features to modernizing our backend technology stack.

• Report to the Development Manager, maintaining robust interaction with Product Managers, Support Specialists, and Platform Teams.

• Participate in daily agile ceremonies, ignite innovation that challenges the status quo, and actualize solution-oriented ideas.

• Advocate for superior code quality and accountability, contributing actively to infrastructure health.

• Foster growth within your team by disseminating knowledge and best practices, while perpetually striving for advancement and progression.

What you'll be bringing to the team:

• Expert Java knowledge with 6+ years in production, including large, long-lived codebases

• 4+ years of deep Spring Framework experience (IoC, MVC, Security, transactions)

• 4+ years using advanced SQL: complex queries, indexing, multi-tenant data models, and schema migrations

• Strong OOP, domain modeling, and design patterns, with judgment about when not to over-engineer

• A track record of designing and evolving backward-compatible REST APIs

• A strong advocate for testing, with experience in automated testing frameworks

• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines

• Clear English communication: design reviews, trade-offs, and collaboration with non-technical stakeholders

• Computer Science degree or equivalent

What will increase your chances:

• Experience working in an Agile development environment

• Work in payments, fiscal/compliance, or other high-correctness domains

• Familiarity with hybrid cloud + on-premise systems

• Exposure to cloud environments like GCP, AWS, and cloud solutions like Kubernetes, Docker, etc.

• Experience with Maven multi-module codebases, Jetty/WAR deployments, Redis, WebSockets, or scheduled jobs
