🚨 Freelance Land Scout – Battery Storage Projects (Remote/Field-Based) 🚨 Location: Germany (remote) Type: Freelance / Contract Industry: Renewable Energy / Energy Storage🔍 Our client, a fast-growing developer in the renewable energy sector, is actively seeking an experienced Freelance Land Scout to help identify and secure land opportunities for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in land acquisition, real estate, or renewable energy development who’s looking for a flexible, high-impact role.About the Role:As a Freelance Land Scout, you’ll be on the front lines of the development process—finding and vetting strategic land parcels suitable for battery storage projects. You’ll work directly with landowners, evaluate sites using GIS tools and parcel data, and help move qualified opportunities toward land agreements.The ideal candidate is independent, proactive, and familiar with energy project requirements (particularly in relation to substations, zoning, and utility infrastructure).What You’ll Do:Identify viable land for BESS projects based on key criteria (proximity to substations/transmission lines, flat topography, zoning, etc.).Use mapping tools and local land databases to screen and qualify sites.Reach out to landowners and gauge interest in leases or sales.Negotiate and coordinate signatures on LOIs, option agreements, or easements.Document site information and maintain accurate records of scouting activity.Work closely with the client’s internal development team to align land leads with project strategy.Conduct occasional site visits and local research when needed.What We’re Looking For:Experience in land scouting, real estate, or renewable energy (solar, wind, or BESS highly preferred).Strong familiarity with land use, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.Competence with mapping and GIS platforms (e.g., Google Earth, county GIS viewers).Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Self-starter mindset with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Valid driver\’s license and ability to travel as needed.Nice to Have:Previous experience in battery storage or utility-scale project development.Local landowner network or real estate connections.Understanding of interconnection points and grid infrastructure.Compensation:Competitive freelance compensation model: per qualified lead, per signed LOI, or per milestone.Flexible hours and opportunity for repeat contracts.
