Job Title: Space Avionics Architect

Locations: Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Duration: 6 months

Linnk Group is supporting a major organisation within the European space sector seeking an experienced Space Avionics Architect to take responsibility for the end-to-end architecture of complex spacecraft avionics systems.

You will lead architectural activities across onboard computing, payload electronics and high-speed digital systems, defining how distributed processors, FPGAs/SoCs and spacecraft subsystems interact throughout the mission lifecycle.

You will:

  • Lead end-to-end spacecraft avionics architecture and system decomposition.
  • Define interfaces between On-Board Computers, payloads and associated spacecraft systems.
  • Develop high-speed networking, payload and backplane architectures.
  • Define spacecraft boot, recovery and redundancy concepts.
  • Design Failure Detection, Isolation and Recovery strategies including watchdogs and safe-mode behaviour.
  • Maintain technical architecture baselines, architecture diagrams and design justification.
  • Perform engineering analysis relating to radiation tolerance, EMI/EMC, signal integrity and power distribution.
  • Work closely with software, FPGA, RF, networking, GNC and mechanical engineering teams.
  • Contribute to technical decisions throughout spacecraft development and verification.

Your Background

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • A Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience within spacecraft avionics, complex embedded electronics or high-speed digital systems.
  • Strong experience architecting distributed systems incorporating processors, FPGAs/SoCs and high-speed interfaces.
  • Experience with ATOP and MOIS.
  • Knowledge of EGS-CC and EAPL.
  • Knowledge of PUS and relevant ECSS/ECCS standards.
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft fault management and FDIR.
  • Fluent English.
  • German language capability would be advantageous.
